Alright guys, prepare to be amazed! The Hubs and I recently heard about grilled pizza and thought we should give it a try. We know that it's possible to use regular uncooked dough, but we were a bit nervous it might stick to the grill, so bought a couple Boboli pizza crust for our initial attempts. We gathered our ingredients - crust, pizza sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, olive oil, and Italian seasoning....
The recipe we read suggested to rub olive oil on the crust and grill each side for a couple minutes first...
Then we loaded on our toppings, put the pizza on the grill, and closed the lid. The recipe suggested 10-12 minutes, but after 8 minutes it was looking pretty well done. This is our first attempt.
Sadly, the bottom was a bit burnt... :(
It was really tasty, but for our next attempt we changed things up a little. We got the thin crust Boboli pizza and pregrilled only the top of the crust. The Hubs stayed over the grill and diligently checked the bottom frequently. After only FOUR minutes the pizza was declared done.
I think the cheese could have used another 30 seconds to melt perfectly, but the bottom was cooked just right...
In conclusion, grilled pizza is awesome. The smoky flavor of grilling the pizza really added a little something. Every bite was flavorful and super tasty. I really recommend you all try this sometime! We will be continuing to try grilled pizza - adding different toppings and trying different types of dough. We'll let you know how it all works out!
