Lobster Shanty

The Hubs and I have been to the Lobster Shanty in Salem, MA a couple times. It's a cute little place on Artist's Row. It doesn't seat many people, so it gets crowded on the weekends. We went for the first time on a Friday night and it was pretty busy, but we got seats at the bar after a very short wait. I wanted the pizza, but they didn't have it that night for some reason. I got the macaroni and cheese instead, which was very good. The Hubs ordered their Lobster Martini, because... well, why not? It was good and rather strong. It seemed to be vodka with a very wee amount of "lobster essence." I personally think they soaked lobster in the vodka and called it a day.

The next time we went I got the pizza - hooray! It was very tasty. This was awhile ago (I really slacked off on my blog posts, sorry), so I can't remember too many of the details. I do remember the crust was good - lightly crispy at the edge and nicely doughy in the center. It was grilled, which I believe is a great way to cook pizza, and this added a nice bit of smokey flavour to the pizza. This was a good all around pizza and pretty good value - $9 for a good size pizza. I recommend this pizza and the Lobster Shanty in general to anyone visiting Salem.

Amazing Pizza, Coming... someday?

We are still waiting for Amazing Pizza to open in Salem, MA. They put up in a sign proclaiming that they would be arriving in Spring, but Spring has come and gone... Summer is nearly gone... when will Amazing Pizza arrive in Salem, MA??

Amazing Pizza: The Mystery Continues

The Hubs and I have been watching and waiting for "Amazing Pizza" to open soon. We saw a sign on the little building months and months ago. We have been (not so) patiently waiting for the awesome pizza. We note small changes occurring and exciting share with each other, "I saw someone go in Amazing Pizza the other day!" or "The flowers outside aren't dead yet! Someone is still watering them..."

We've had some developments in the past week that need to be shared here. About a week ago, after weeks of no noticable activity at Amazing Pizza, I noticed that the sign had been taken down. It seemed that Amazing Pizza would no longer be coming soon. It was a very sad day.

And then...

Two days ago the sign went back up! I feel that this is promising. Why go through the bother of putting a sign back up if you're not going to actually open up shop? Things are looking up!

Amazing Pizza, Coming Soon?

The Hubs and I live in Salem, MA. It's pretty great, but one major downside of our location is the lack of a good pizza place. We have tried the pizza in our area and have not found anything special. We usually end up ordering from Dominos, which is good, but not great. Early in the Spring, we noticed a sign outside a small building in our neighborhood - "Amazing Pizza - Coming Soon."

We were so excited! At last! Amazing pizza in Salem! So, we waited and watched. We happen to drive by the building every day on our way to work, so it was easy to watch progress on the building. We saw people going in and out. We saw painters and workmen. When it got warm, they put out some hanging plants. And now... nothing. I haven't seen any activity all summer. I am beginning to think that this "Amazing Pizza" will never appear, but I'll keep you posted...
